- Our History -
In February 2005, Esperanza founders, Eric and Jennifer Messenger’s oldest son, Nick was hit by a car-just blocks away from Esperanza. He suffered a stroke, traumatic brain injury and was in a coma for several months.
Driven by the desire to make Nick whole again, Eric and Jennifer searched for therapies in the Seattle area. Unable to find the kind of therapy that would give Nick the best chance for recovery, Eric and Jennifer looked outside Seattle and found Movement Discoveries in California. Nick spent three months there and made amazing progress in his speech and mobility.
Eric and Jennifer knew that with more therapy, Nick would make even more progress. But their lives and their three other children were in Washington.
They met so many kids in Seattle who could benefit from this specialized therapy that they felt compelled to open a center in Seattle and give back to the community that supported them in their time of need.
